DESCRIPTION:

We've partnered with Sambhali Trust, a foundation that empowers and educates more than 1000 women in Jodhpur, India. Govind Rathore, the foundation’s director will be our exclusive local tour leader providing us rare insight into this rich and ancient culture, their complex and outdated caste system and women’s rights in India.  Our out of the box itinerary, insightful guides and personal service will leave you captivated, impassioned and filled with deep knowledge of this ancient land and it's colorful people. There is certainly no quick way to summarize this mystical country so full of culture, art, religion, food and history. The non-stop energy can be felt from every direction.  India is truly a place of incredible wonder, beautiful people, striking contradiction, and creative peak experiences.

FULL ITINERAY:

DAY 1: Arrival To Delhi

You will be met at the airport by our guide and driver and be transferred to our hotel for the night.

DAY 2: Flight to Udaipur

After breakfast we will take a regional flight to Udaipur around noon.  Our van and driver will meet us at the airport in Udaipur. Upon arriving to our hotel you will have time to lunch and rest. If you are feeling up to it we will take an easy walking tour of old city and markets. (B,L,D)

DAY 3: Udaipur Exploration

Today we explore the city palace and Jagdish temple. We will visit a local artisan to see a miniature painting demonstration.  After lunch there will be time to rest before we head out for the evening in an unforgettable sunset boat ride and wonderful dinner beside the lake. (B,D)

DAY 4: Journey to Jodhpur

Today we head towards Jodhpur, the hometown of  your guides', Govind and Virendra. Along the way we will stop at the renowned Ranakphur Temple built in the 15th century where you will have lunch and explore the remarkable architecture. We continue our drive stopping along the way to see daily village life and take photos. Arrive right to hotel. (B,L,D)

DAY 5: Jodhpur sites, Sambhali Trust & Bishnoi Village!

We will rise early to enjoy chai on the rooftops to see this gorgeous blue city awaken. After a short heritage walk we will stop to explore the famed fort. We will share lunch with some girls of the Sambhali Trust. We'll listen to their stories and hear all about this incredible foundation. In the late afternoon we will head to the Bishnoi Village to see local artisans create pottery, block prints and the famous rugs from this region. There will be a weaving demonstration by one family who has been making rugs for generations followed by dinner. DAY 6: Community exchange with Sambhali Trust

We will be spending the day working alongside the women and volunteers of Sambhali Trust.  Depending on what work needs to be done, we will partner off and spend the day in the communities working with the volunteers and women of Sambhali Trust. (B,L)

DAY 7: Village of Setrawa

We will head out early morning and reach the village of Setrawa, home to Govind's family, just 2 hours south of Jodhpur. Here, we will be able to experience non-touristy rural village life and interact with Govind's family. In the evening for sunset we will take a camel  ride into the vast and majestic dunes. Back at the house we will help prepare dinner with the local women. (B,L,D)

DAY 8: Setrawa & Sambhali

Awaken to the sounds of the country. There will be an option for a morning yoga class on the rooftop. We will visit a local school founded bu the Sambhali Trust and learn about how their programs are not only affecting women in the city of Jodhpur but also the surrounding villages. The afternoon will be spent getting to know these women and partaking in fun activities like modeling saris and henna! Dinner will be back at the house around a bonfire with a special presentation from traditional gypsy dancers! (B,L,D)

DAY 9: Setrawa-Jaisalmer

We will be driving to Jaisalmer a world heritage site and known as the golden city. After lunch and a visit to a historic Haveli, we will have time to relax in the afternoon or wander the streets to shop! In the evening we will wander the streets of the old town and discover the magic of this beautiful town. DAY 10: Jaisalmer

Today will be spent touring the golden fortress, gem shops and winding city streets. The evening is yours to mold with more shopping and exploring. (B,L)

DAY 11: Transfer day to Jodhpur

After breakfast we hit the road early to head back to Jodhpur where you can choose from a variety of services at the gorgeous hotel spa. (At your own cost) If that is not your thing chill by the incredible hotel or if you are up for it our guide can take you to some more shops and sites. (B)

DAY 12: Train to Jaipur

Experience India by train! Today we arrive to the capital of the Rajasthan, Jaipur, known as the pink city filled with castles, colors, bustling markets and smells of spices. We will visit the Bazaars, shops on the streets and try local market food such as a yogurt lassi. DAY 13: Jaipur Sites

By jeep, we will explore the historical and gorgeous Amer fort. After lunch, we will continue our site seeing of the city palace still in use by the Maharajah of Jaipur. If we are feeling some need for a little entertainment, we will hit up the Raj Mandir Cinema for a bollywood film! (B,D)

Day 14: Arrival to Agra- Taj Mahal! 

Today will be spent exploring the ins and outs of the famous Taj Mahal.  A UNESCO world heritage site and coined one of the seven wonders of the world. (B,D)

Day 15: Taj Mahal-Delhi Departure

If you desire there is opportunity to take some sunrise photos at the Taj Mahal. We will be making our way back to Delhi today for those departing back home. Once in Delhi we will see a more modern side of India. Get some last minute shopping done at some very unique markets. We will head to the hotel to regroup and prepare for the airport. Most flights will be departing very late at night. (B,L)
