Jewels of Rajasthan Itinerary

Experience the magic, mystery and beauty of Rasjathan. Led by Govinde Rathore and Virendra Chouhan of Sambhali Trust, we will explore this area like locals and immerse ourselves into the culture of Rajasthan.  

This trip is a rare synthesis of sightseeing historical landmarks, community engagement and digging deeper into a complex and dynamic culture. From luxury hotels to sleeping in a village to eating regional delicacies to seeing ancient temples this trip has it all.

Jewels of Rajasthan Itinerary 

January 12-25th 2018

DAY 1: Arrival To Delhi

You will be met at the airport by your guides: Govind, Virendra and PN co-founder Jessica. Our driver will transfer us to the hotel for the evening.

DAY 2: Flight to Udaipur

After breakfast we will take a regional flight to Udaipur, the city of lakes and the historical capital of Mewar.  Upon arriving to our hotel you will have time to lunch and take a rest.  We will do an easy walking tour of the old city and markets so you can get adjusted to the sights and sounds of India. (B,L,D)

DAY 3: Udaipur Exploration

Today we explore the City Palace , Crystal Gallery and the Jagdish temple. In the evening we will take an unforgettable sunset boat ride around the lake palace. (B,D)

DAY 4: Journey to Jodhpur

Today we head towards Jodhpur, the hometown of  your guides', Govind and Virendra. Along the way we will stop at the renowned Ranakphur Temple built in the 15th century. After lunch we will continue to the village of Bishnoi where we will meet local artisans and have dinner before arriving to our heritage hotel in Jodhpur. (B,L,D)

DAY 5: Jodhpur sites and cooking class!

After breakfast we will spend the morning exploring the royal fort built above the cliffs of this historical blue city . In the afternoon, we will meet the women of Sambhali Trust and partake in a cooking class together. Dinner will be at a local restaurant in new city.(B,L,D)

DAY 6: Community exchange with Sambhali Trust

We will be spending the day working alongside the women and volunteers of Sambhali Trust.  Depending on what work needs to be done, we will partner off and spend the day in the communities working with the volunteers and women of Sambhali Trust.  Dinner will be held on top of the historical fort overlooking the twinkling lights of the old city. (B,L)

DAY 7: Village of Setrawa

We will head out early morning and reach the village of Setrawa, home to Govind's family, just 2 hours south of Jodhpur. Here, we will be able to experience non-touristy rural village life and interact with Govind's family. In the evening we will take a camel cart ride into the vast and majestic dunes.  (B,L,D)

DAY 8: Setrawa-Jaisalmer

We will be driving to Jaisalmer a world heritage site and known as the golden city. We will have time to relax in the afternoon. In the evening we will wander the streets of the old town and discover the magic of this beautiful town. (B,L)

DAY 9: Jaisalmer

Today will be spent touring the golden fortress, walking this winding roads of this enchanting town and eating local cuisines. The evening we'll drive far out on the sand dunes where we will eat dinner, listen to local Rajasthani music and learn to dance with the gypsies over a campfire.   (B,L,D)

DAY 10: Spa day

The spa awaits! After breakfast we hit the road early to head back to Jodhpur where you can choose from a variety of services at the spa. (At your own cost) If that is not your thing there will be a workshop on how to block print or you can just relax by the pool. (B,L)

DAY 11: Jodhpur to Jaipur

Today we arrive to the capital of the Rajasthan, Jaipur, known as the pink city filled with castles, colors, bustling markets and smells of spices. We will visit the Bazaars, shops on the streets and try local market food such as a yogurt lassi. (B,D)

DAY 12: Jaipur

By Jeep, we will explore the historical and gorgeous Amer fort. After lunch, we will continue our site seeing of the city palace still in use by the Maharajah of Jaipur. If we are feeling some need for a little entertainment, we will hit up the Raj Mandir Cinema for a bollywood film!  (B,D)

Day 13: Arrival to Agra- Taj Mahal! 

Today will be spent exploring the ins and outs of the famous Taj Mahal.  A UNESCO heritage site and coined one of the seven wonders of the world.   (B,D)

Day 14: Taj Mahal-Delhi

If you desire there is opportunity to take some sunrise photos at the Taj Mahal. We will be making our way back to Delhi today for those departing back home. Most flights will be departing after our final dinner together.  (B,D)
